What causes dry eyes?

There are different forms of "dry eye", but the most common form is called Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). MGD occurs when the meibomian glands in the eyelids (which produce the oily part of the tear film) become clogged or don't function properly.  This can cause the tears to evaporate too quickly. This can lead to discomfort, irritation, redness, blurred vision, and in some cases, sensitivity to light. Traditional treatments may not always address the root cause, but our new combination therapy offers a more comprehensive approach to treating MGD.

How Does RF and IPL Work?

Radio Frequency (RF): RF energy gently stimulates the meibomian glands in the eyelids, which produce the oils that keep the tears from evaporating too quickly. By enhancing gland function, this treatment helps restore the tear film and reduces dryness.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL): IPL uses gentle light pulses to target the inflammation and blockages in the meibomian glands. The heat generated by the IPL helps to liquify and remove debris from the glands, allowing them to function properly again.

Together, RF and IPL provide a safe, non-invasive treatment to improve tear production, reduce inflammation, and relieve the discomfort caused by dry eyes.
